- Gifts: Payments made as gifts on special occasions.

How to Calculate the Regular Rate
The basic formula for the regular rate of pay is:
Regular Rate of Pay = (Total Compensation for the Workweek) / (Total Hours Worked in the Workweek)
Let's walk through an example:
An employee earns a base hourly wage of $20.00. In a particular workweek, they work 45 hours. They also receive a $100 non-discretionary production bonus and $50 in shift differential pay for that week.
- Calculate Total Straight-Time Earnings: $20.00/hour * 45 hours = $900.00
- Calculate Total Compensation for Workweek: $900.00 (straight-time) + $100.00 (bonus) + $50.00 (shift differential) = $1050.00
- Calculate Regular Rate of Pay: $1050.00 / 45 hours = $23.33 per hour
