Understanding March Size in Evony: The King's Return

In Evony: The King's Return, your march size determines how many troops you can send to a single attack, rally, or resource tile. Increasing this number is critical for winning PvP battles and taking down higher-level Boss Monsters. This calculator helps you predict your maximum troop count based on various in-game mechanics.

Key Factors Influencing March Size

  • Rally Spot Level: This is the foundation of your march capacity. Upgrading your Rally Spot is the most direct way to increase troop limits. At Level 35, your base is 155,000; at Level 40, it jumps to 250,000.
  • General Leadership: A General's Leadership attribute provides a flat increase to the march size. High-leadership generals like Genghis Khan or Napoleon (Prime) are favored for their ability to lead massive armies.
  • Percentage Buffs: These are multiplicative. They come from Military Research (in the Academy), VIP levels, and Monarch Talents. Even a 5% increase can mean thousands of extra troops at higher levels.
  • General Skills & Gear: Specific "March Size" skill books can add up to 15% (Level 4). Certain equipment sets, like the Koryo or Freedom sets, also provide significant percentage boosts.
  • Consumable Buffs: Using a 25%, 50%, or 100% March Size Increase item is common for Throne Wars or SvS (Server vs Server) events.

March Size Calculation Example

If you have a Level 30 Rally Spot (100,000 base) and a total percentage buff of 50% (from research and skills), your calculation would look like this:

(Base + Leadership Bonus) × (1 + Total Buffs)

Assuming your leadership adds roughly 5,000 capacity, you would have 105,000 × 1.50 = 157,500 total troops per march.

Tips for Maximizing Your March

To reach the "Mega Marches" seen in late-game play, focus on the Military Academy (MA) research, which offers massive percentage bonuses that stack with regular Academy research. Additionally, ensure your Duty Officer at the Rally Spot has high attributes and the correct skill books to further amplify these numbers.

function calculateMarch() { var baseSize = parseFloat(document.getElementById("rallySpotBase").value); var leadership = parseFloat(document.getElementById("leadershipStat").value); var resBuff = parseFloat(document.getElementById("researchBuff").value); var genBuff = parseFloat(document.getElementById("generalBuff").value); var itemBuff = parseFloat(document.getElementById("itemBuff").value); // Validation if (isNaN(leadership)) leadership = 0; if (isNaN(resBuff)) resBuff = 0; if (isNaN(genBuff)) genBuff = 0; // Calculation Logic // 1. Leadership contributes to base. Rough estimate for Evony math: // Leadership stat * 10 is a common approximation for flat contribution, // though it varies by general tier. We will use Leadership * 10. var flatLeadershipBonus = leadership * 10; // 2. Combine all percentage buffs var totalPercent = resBuff + genBuff + itemBuff; var multiplier = 1 + (totalPercent / 100); // 3. Final Calculation var totalMarch = (baseSize + flatLeadershipBonus) * multiplier; // Rounding var finalResult = Math.floor(totalMarch); // Display Results var resultDiv = document.getElementById("marchResult"); var totalSpan = document.getElementById("totalTroops"); var breakdownP = document.getElementById("breakdown"); totalSpan.innerHTML = finalResult.toLocaleString(); breakdownP.innerHTML = "Calculated using " + totalPercent + "% total buffs on a " + (baseSize + flatLeadershipBonus).toLocaleString() + " effective base."; resultDiv.style.display = "block"; }
